I like Zoosk because you have a lot of control over your search and matches. You get prompts to help you quickly fill out your profile and you can add more information to give more personality to your description. You can also search matches to your hearts content as opposed to waiting for the system to send matches to you. You get to be proactive on this site.
Free subscription:
You can get on Zoosk anytime for free, fill out some preliminary information, and start searching. You can hit a smile or like people when you see their photo and browse to see if the members are what you are looking for. This is an important step because you don’t want to pay for a subscription before knowing if it suits you, if your age group is represented, and if the type of match you are looking for has subscribed.
What you CANNOT do on the free subscription:
- You cannot look at people’s profiles, you can only see their primary photo
- You cannot read a message someone has sent to you unless they have a premier membership
- You cannot message someone you are interested in
- You cannot answer a message someone has sent to you
Paid subscription
The fee is $29.95 for a one-month subscription and then the cost per month decreases the longer the membership you choose. Three months is $59.95 (19.98/mo) and 6 months is $79.95 ($13.35/mo).
If a paid subscription is in your budget, you are going to enjoy many more very important features on this site. If you are serious about dating and the fee is not in your budget, then this site is not for you. You are able to do so little with the free membership, that it would be better to get on a free site like Bumble or Plenty of Fish.
This platform is available in 80 countries and in 25 languages. International dating isn’t for you? Don’t worry you are only going to get matches according to the specs you put in your profile. Your daily matches are made by Zoosk using its sophisticated algorithm. They will arrive in your smart picks folder for 24 hours.
You can also search for your own matches. This is a great feature so you aren’t waiting on the system to connect you with possibilities. You also are sure to see every possibility. If you like the swipe left or right feature, open the carousel tab. If you are looking for matches with photos and their complete profile, click on search.
If you would like to do an advanced search, Zoosk has that option. You can filter by age range, location, distance, height, relationship status, children, ethnicity, religion, education, body type, and smoking. Now this is convenient for those of you that are very particular about a certain trait or quality. You can even save your criteria to use this search in the future.
This site is flexible and offers many features. If you would like to have your profile featured to matches in your area, you can buy “ boost” using Zoosk coins. You can even do a “super send” so that you are featured to many people in and outside of your area.
Want to see what activity is happening behind the scenes? Click on “Views” to see who has viewed you. You can then click on their photo and read their profile. You can then reach out with a smile, like or a message.
If you want to cut right to the chase, there is a “message” folder. These are people that have messaged you. You will be able to see your message trail with each person and see if they are currently online.
If you aren’t sure if Zoosk is the right site for you, ask around to see what other singles are using. Try the free subscription so you can get a feel for the site, and then if you are still on the fence, buy a one-month membership.
Give online dating a try! Over 20% percent of committed relationships started online. FAR more dates than that have happened so that 20% is a pretty amazing statistic.
Be open-minded, try not to get too caught up in just physical attraction. Not everyone photographs well and you can see if there is an attraction in your chat and then a phone conversation.
