Your partner’s love language is touch, yours is not. Touch doesn’t mean sex, so what does it mean?
Your partner will fall more in love with you and feel more connected to you once you understand their Love Language of Touch. This is Tamara, your Dating and Relationship Coach rooting for you!
What are Love Languages? Dr. Gary Chapman developed the most amazing system to help us understand how we and our partner need to receive love.
Touch means little touches throughout the day. This does not mean sex.
Here are 10 ways to help your partner feel loved. Your partner is not being needy, they feel loved with every type of touch. Ask them their favorite types of touch so you know where to focus.
It could be romantic, sexual, playful, or loving. Here are 10 small but powerful ideas to get you started.
- Your partner’s preferences – ask them what they want and need
- Hold hands when running errands
- Put your arm around him/her
- Put your hand on his/her knee in the car
- Rub his/her neck
- Lean against each other when waiting in line
- Snuggle up on the couch
- Rub your partner’s back while they are cooking
- Hug hello before as your partner leaves for work
- Kiss when you come home to your partner
- Sit next to each other at a restaurant
If you are not a touch person yourself this is going to be difficult! It is ok, you will get the hang of this. Because this Love Language is primal and instinctual, it will not come naturally to you.
You will need to write yourself reminders. Get out the sticky notes, put reminders on your phone, set alarms. Whatever works for you.
If you do not touch your partner regularly throughout the day they will feel unloved and rejected. You will be creating long-lasting damage to your relationship.
Hang in there, this will take practice. Ask your partner to gently remind you if they are not getting enough touch so you know you are not on track.
