Bumble Review – click here for the complete blog:

There are a lot of apps to choose from. Which one is the right one for you? Consider:

  1. What type of relationship are you looking for?

2.What type of people are you interested in meeting?

     3.What age group are you?

     4.What is your budget?

You aren’t going to be able to google the best dating site because most blogs where you can find these comparisons are sponsored by all or most of the sites they review. The author has not researched all sites. I am not getting a commission from Bumble, this is my honest professional and personal opinion.

Let’s talk about Bumble. I will give you a rundown of what it is like to have a paid or unpaid subscription and the percs of both. Then you can decide if this is a good site for you.

I like Bumble because it is a unique site. The women are in control. Men cannot pursue a woman, they cannot “like her” so she can see it and they may not message her UNTIL the woman likes the first. (how this precisely works depends on if you are subscribing to the free or paid version.)

You get a LOT of benefits on a free subscription. Many are on the site for free and feel they have enough advantages without a paid membership.

You will fill out your profile immediately. The system will ask you for information about your background and who you want in a match – height, education, children, how much you work out, faith, how much you drink, vaccination, interests, etc. You do not need to answer all of these, but the more you share, the better the quality of your matches.  Some people don’t answer any so you are forced to decide if they appeal to you based on their looks alone which of course does not work to their advantage.

You will have the opportunity to write a description. You can add more about you, your interests, your schedule, your children, what you can offer a partner, what you are looking for in a partner, and what you are looking for in a relationship, etc.. You have complete control over this area. You can write about whatever you like. Spelling and punctuation do count so proofread!

Advantage – women lead the start of this process. It limits the messaging so you are only messaging guys YOU like which makes for a quiet “match queue” (inbox). You have the time to concentrate on the people you like the most. You also do not have to contend with anyone endlessly messaging you that you have no interest in. Matches cannot actually pursue you until you swipe right.

Disadvantage – SOME of the men on this site have chosen this site because they are shy or they want the woman to be the pursuer. This can be frustrating for a traditional woman that enjoys chivalry, a gentleman, and wants to be pursued.  They may expect you to do all of the messaging and posing the get to know you types of questions. This is a problem on every site, but I find it even more common on Bumble. Guys have the option to sit back and want the woman to lead.

Once a woman swipes right on a guy, she gets an immediate notification if you match. It will say you matched! And then give you an opportunity to immediately message him.  Should you choose not to message him right away, the notification goes into our message file in the bottom right corner and you have 24 hours to send him a message or you lose access to him.

Once the woman messages the man, he then has 24 hours to reply to her message or the match fails.

Once the conversation starts with the man’s reply, the message appears in the match queue. It will actually be highlighted in yellow “Your Move”. The timelimits are gone now. You can message at your leisure.

If you no longer like your match, you can slide their message line to the left and select “unmatch” they are then gone from the queue and you no longer have access to what was said.

For someone that gets a lot of messages or has a lot of matches, you may want to keep the guys in your queue so that you can remember why it did not work out.

Disadvantage – you need to be on this site every day or you will lose your new matches.  You may swipe right on someone and they do not see it right away. The guy could reciprocate your interest and any time, so you need to be online checking your account at least once a day.

You will regularly get new matches. You swipe right or left and the next time you are on, sometimes even later that day, you will be given more matches.

Disadvantage – you do not have complete control over your matches. You cannot search everyone in the database. You need to wait until the matches pop up in your inbox.

Advantage – for people that are overwhelmed by a site like Match.com and all of its capacity and unlimited search for matches, Bumble gives you a gradual feed of quite a few matches per day. As the weeks progress,  you will get less and less matches because the system is running out of new matches. The amount depends on your preferences and how many people have signed up in your area.

Exploring the free subscription is an important step because you don’t want to pay for a membership before knowing if this site suits you, if your age group is represented, and if the type of match you are looking for has subscribed.

PAID PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION

With Bumble Premium, you’re able to:

  1. See everyone who swiped right on you with Beeline.
  2. Rematch with expired connections.
  3. Extend your matches by 24 hours.
  4. Backtrack on accidental left swipes.
  5. Get unlimited swipes.
  6. Put yourself in the Spotlight.
  7. Use five SuperSwipes per week.
  8. Focus on what you’re looking for with Advanced Filters.
  9. Activate Incognito Mode for more privacy.
  10. Swipe in other locations with Travel Mode.

Bumble Premium costs $13.99 for a week, $29.99 for a month, $59.99 for three months paid upfront, 6 months 99.99, or a one-time fee of $149.99 for a lifetime subscription that unlocks all the Premium features forever. Pricing fluctuates based on current promotions.

You have access to everyone who’s already liked your profile. You will be able to see everyone who likes you – a big advantage over the free site. You are getting the information about who swiped right much faster.

You do not have to worry about timelines. If your matches expire in 24 hours, you can put them back in your queue. You can even ask Bumble right after your match to extend to 48 hours so you have time to craft your first message without pressure.

Great news! If you accidentally swipe left, you can recapture that match and swipe right or even just reread the profile.

You can even SuperSwipe on profiles (Boost includes five SuperSwipes a week). Once they come across your profile, that person will be able to see that you SuperSwiped on them. Pretty exciting for them to see in their queue.

This is a big one! Filters let you search for specific matches who share your interests, beliefs, and values. This can range from height, age, pets, astrological sign, what they’re looking for in a relationship, and much more. You get access to all the filters so you can have a detailed search with quality matches.

Premium also has “Incognito Mode” which you can activate anytime. It allows you to only get seen by the people who you swipe right on. With this feature, no one will see your profile unless you want them to.

Now here is a truly unique feature. Bumble has a travel feature, you can change your location to another city before or during your trip so that you can easily make new connections there. This also works if you want to keep swiping in your area while you’re not home, allowing you to keep connecting with people who live nearby. Your location will automatically be set to the city center of your chosen destination, and an indicator in your profile will let potential matches know that you’re “traveling.”

If you aren’t sure if Bumble is the right site for you, ask around to see what other singles are using. Try the free subscription so you can get a feel for the site, and then if you are still on the fence, buy a one-week or one-month membership.

Give on-line dating a try! Over 20% percent of committed relationships started online.  FAR more dates occur above and beyond that so that 20% is a pretty amazing statistic.

Be open-minded, try not to get too caught up in just physical attraction. Not everyone photographs well and you can see if there is attraction in your chat and then phone conversation.

Be honest in your profile and get started!

Your pictures are a priority – you have 1 second to get someone’s interest and most people are making that determination from your primary photo.
